[SLL] How do you Destroy a Hard drive

I have a defective hard drive (ext3) that I'd like to make completely
unreadable before I dispose of it.  However, the disk not writable so I
can write over the data.  It won't even allow a format.   But, from the
error reports it doesn't appear that the entire drive is damaged so I'm
concerned that if someone smarter than me gets a hold of it they could
figure out how to pull info. 

I'd like to use it for target practice, but they frown on it in Seattle.

For the record it is an Hitachi 200GB drive.  It is the second Hitachi
drive that failed on me.  The first was in my laptop and now my desktop.
Both ran real hot.  It's also the last Hitachi drive that I buy.
