[SLL] I want an interesting package in tarball that is C++ based for the Make

I cannot seem to get my make file together on this old woody system, and I was
wondering if anyone can recommend an interesting and small tarball package that
is in C++ and which I could use as my example.  I suspect I'm just leaving 
something simple out, and it would be a good thing to have a reputable example
for other future problems anyway.  Thanks.
